Part-Time Early Childhood Educator

We are seeking an experienced Early Childhood Educator to join our teaching team at Bayview Community Preschool. Our preschool has a strong philosophy in learning through play, project based child-led learning and connecting to nature. We o!er a registered preschool program at Queen Elizabeth Annex, including a STEAM program, and an outdoor nature program at Jericho Beach park as well as Pacific Spirit Park. Our Educators work in both programs throughout the week, ensuring continuity of learning and care for children.

Qualifications: Basic ECE

Additional Qualifications:

Required Qualifications*

  • Current ECE Certificate*

  • Current Emergency First Aid and CPR C Certificate*

  • Current BC Criminal Record Check*

  • Wilderness or Forest Schools training (Desired)

  • ECE Assistant applicants with desired skills and training considered

Required Experience:

  • +2 years experience working in early childhood settings including preschool or daycare

  • +2 years experience working in outdoor nature/forest schools programs (desired)

Key Responsibilties

This position would be for 20 Hours per week, covering Monday - Friday and duties would include:

  • Supervise children and providing positive behaviour guidance such as redirecting, positive language and reinforcement;

  • Model and encourage the children to develop respect for one another, the natural world, and themselves;
    Lead and facilitating educational projects;

  • Assist children with toileting and handwashing;

  • Assist children with eating, dressing and undressing;

  • Provide daily Reflection and evaluation of children’s learning with the teaching team;

  • Discuss the program’s daily events with family members at drop-o! and pick-up;

  • Document and share children’s learning with families using a range of di!erent methods; and Cleanup at the end of class.

  • Ability to be flexible to teach across the range of our programs;

  • Shelter building, primitive skills, storytelling and adventuring skills;

  • and An ability to provide a rich, exciting and nurturing educational program that is inspired by nature and caters to children’s interests, learning and development.

Salary & Benefits

  • Salary: $23.00 - $25.00 hourly base rate (depending on experience and qualifications)

  • plus Bayview Community Preschool is currently an eligible service and receives the ECE Wage Enhancement of $4.00/hr from the Province of British Columiba.
