17. Travel to/from Away Space Policy

  • In order to ensure the safety of all children, educator-to-child ratios (in accordance with our license) will always be maintained. Educators will discuss and implement safe walking and road crossing practices with the children. One educator will be at the front and another will be at the back of every walking group. The staff member who leads the group will gather the children on arrival while the other educators will check for hazards on the playground. Once a safety check has been completed, the children be allowed to play. The children will be guided towards safe practices during playground use and receive reminders as needed.

  • The children will be supervised at all times. Educators will have on their persons a mobile phone device to be able to communicate with each other and the administration regarding the children in their care and any important, emergent or ancillary information pertaining to the particular day and time. Staff will carry an emergency backpack with first aid supplies and emergency consent forms for all children in their care.

  • In an emergency, educators will adhere to the policies and procedures set out in the Bayview Community Preschool Staff handbook.

  • During extremely inclement weather, the children will play in a sheltered area outside the classroom.
