2. How We’re Organized

Parent Board of Directors

Bayview Community Preschool is a not-for-profit registered organization and part of the Society Act of British Columbia. We are run by a parent-volunteer Board of Directors who usually join for a two-year term.

Joining the Parent-Volunteer Board of Directors is a profoundly rewarding experience! The Board has a direct impact on the preschool’s strategic planning, policies and procedures and curriculum creation. They aid in the hiring and training of Educators. They also have input into our marketing, fundraising and communication with parents in the form of monthly newsletters.

 Annual General Meeting

All parents are invited to discuss upcoming preschool events and have an opportunity to join the Parent-Volunteer Board. This AGM is generally held in September.

Other Ways to get involved!

If joining the board isn’t for you, there are other ways to get involved with your child’s preschool experience!  From fundraising projects, chaperoning field trips, assisting with organizing events happening at the Centre, marketing, photography, special projects and website development, parents can become involved as volunteers.

Please reach out to us at board@bayviewpreschool.ca for more information about joining the Board or other involvement opportunities.

Our Educators

The timetable below explains which educators will be teaching each class.

Staff Requirements

Bayview educators are certified in Early Childhood Education and hold a valid First Aid certificate. We value continuing professional development and encourage our educators to continue their lifelong learning journey by subsidizing or covering fees for relevant courses or workshops allowing educators to explore areas of interest and find new inspiration.

Licensing Requirements

Bayview Community Preschool Society is a licensed facility. The Preschool Centre is licensed by the Provincial Community Care Facilities branch to allow the enrollment of 19 children. Our Staff-to-Child Ratio for the 2024-2025 Preschool year will be 3:19 or 1:6.

We also offer an unlicensed Outdoor Nature Program at Jericho Beach Park, with Educators who have specific training in the Nature School’s Pedagogy. We aim for the ideal Educator-to-Child Ratio of 1:6.

The low 1:6 ratio means we can provide your child with ample personal attention and are able to carry out activities in an unhurried, safe, and relaxed way, creating meaningful and authentic experiences for them.
